FED:PM promises millions betters off = 2

Ms Gillard said details of how the compensation will be delivered will be announced
at a later date.

"But clearly we can provide assistance to Australian households through our tax and
transfer system," she said.

It's widely expected the government will deliver the compensation via tax cuts for
low and middle income earners and higher welfare payments for the disadvantaged.

Ms Gillard was talking at a coal-fired power station that has just undergone a $35
million project to install a solar power boost.

"I am very confident that this project is going to be a stand-out," Ms Gillard said.

"A stand-out in Australia, a stand-out in the world, about how power generation can
be changed to give us a cleaner energy future."
