Qld: Five hospitalised after being overcoem by fumes
BRISBANE, Feb 2 AAP - Five people working near the Stanwell Power Station in central
Queensland have been taken to hospital after being overcome by fumes.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the incident happened about 9.20am
(AEST) today in a reserve bordering the power station, west of Rockhampton.
The five people were clearing up rubbish when an excavator punctured a drum, releasing
gas into the air.
They complained of a burning sensation to their eyes, headaches and a shortness of breath.
"They were taken to Rockhampton Hospital and are in a stable condition," the spokeswoman said.
A decontamination unit is at the scene.
