Qld: Torres Strait Islanders sign radar deal with fed ministers
A radar system to boost border protection and target illegal fishing will be installed
in the Torres Strait this year.
The installation can proceed following today's signing of an agreement between the
federal government and island communities.
Defence Minister ROBERT HILL and Customs Minister CHRIS ELLISON flew to the Dauan and
Badu Islands for signing ceremonies with the island councils.
