QLD:Creeks transformed to raging torrents

GOLD COAST, Jan 11 AAP - The south-eastern Queensland town of Gympie could be isolated
for several days by what the acting mayor has called an "exceptional" flood.
Tony Perrett, who's also the acting chairman of the Disaster Management Group, says
some creeks in the Wide Bay and Widgee catchments surged several metres in an hour, transformed
from trickles to raging torrents.
"We've had significant rain, up to 225mm in the western part of our area, in the Black
Snake and Manumbar areas overnight, which has seen significant rises …
